Frisco, Texas — Will Grier is returning to the Cowboys organization in a different capacity: the former quarterback has joined the club as an offensive assistant ahead of training camp.
The team said July 24 that Grier will start his duties next week. ESPN reported that he retired July 15 after spending the offseason with the Panthers.
The 31-year-old was a 2019 third-round selection of Carolina and previously spent two stretches with Dallas, where his playing time was mainly in preseason and practice-squad roles.
Grier will reconnect with Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott as the Cowboys prepare for camp at The Star.
