HCLTech has opened a regional headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, adding an artificial-intelligence center and a training hub to its operations there.

The company announced the opening Oct. 7. The facility is in Sandton and will let business customers explore uses for HCLTech’s AI services, according to its announcement.

HCLTech has a substantial presence in Frisco: the city’s fiscal 2025 annual financial report lists HCL Technologies among its principal employers, with 1,500 workers. That figure describes the reporting period, rather than a new hiring commitment.

The company says the Johannesburg site will also support technology training. Across fiscal 2021–2025, its South African skills-development program supported nearly 500 learners, and nearly 50 went on to full-time company roles.

The announcement does not specify the new facility’s cost or a new-job total. It does not announce changes at HCLTech’s Frisco operations.
