Late Surge Decides Game
The Houston Astros overcame an early deficit by capitalizing on defensive miscues in the final frame, securing a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. The win improved Houston’s record to 53-55, while the Angels fell to 42-65.
Los Angeles took control early, building a 4-0 lead through the third inning. The Angels scored in the first when Neto and Trout crossed the plate, followed by another run in the same frame. Grissom extended the lead with a home run to left-center in the third, and Lowe added an insurance run later in the inning.
Houston began chipping away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Trammell homered to center. The Astros continued to apply pressure in the eighth inning, cutting the gap to 4-2 when Peña scored on Alvarez’s single to left.
Ninth Inning Drama
The game was decided in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Astros scored four runs. The rally began with Spence reaching base and Trammell scoring on a fielding error by Angels second baseman Grissom. Allen also advanced on the error.
Paredes hit by pitch allowed Spence to score, tying the game at 4-4. The Angels challenged the call, but it was upheld. Wade Jr. then walked, bringing Paredes to second and Alvarez to third. Another Angels challenge was unsuccessful as Peña scored to give Houston a 5-4 lead.
