Kirk opens the scoring
Kirk put Toronto in front with the game’s only home run, and the Blue Jays added the run that stood as the difference on Sánchez’s fourth-inning single and a throwing error by left fielder Trammell in a 3-1 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
Kirk’s homer went to left-center field in the second inning and was measured at 373 feet, giving Toronto a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays extended the margin in the fourth. Sánchez singled to left, Okamoto scored on the error, Sánchez reached second on Trammell’s throwing error and Springer was safe at third.
Clement followed with a sacrifice fly to left that scored Springer, pushing Toronto ahead 3-0.
Houston answers once
Houston’s only run came in the sixth inning. Peña singled to center, scoring Diaz, while Peña advanced to second and Smith moved to third. The play cut Toronto’s lead to 3-1, but the scoring stopped there.
The Astros had nine hits and one earned run against Shane Bieber, who worked 5.2 innings. Bieber allowed two walks, struck out six and earned the win to improve to 3-2.
