Standout performance
Au. Lopez was the decisive factor in USC's victory, driving in five runs to lead the Trojans past the Texas A&M Aggies. Lopez's output included an RBI single, a three-run home run, and a sacrifice fly, providing the bulk of the scoring for the away team.
Lopez's impact was felt throughout the latter half of the game. After getting USC on the board with a fifth-inning single, he extended the lead in the seventh with a three-run blast to right field. He added two more runs in the eighth inning, first on a groundout that scored a teammate and then with a sacrifice fly that brought in W. Urbon.
Game progression
Texas A&M took an early lead in the third inning when B. Harrison hit a solo home run to center field, giving the Aggies a 1-0 advantage. It proved to be the only run Texas A&M would score in the contest.
USC responded in the fifth to tie the game. A. Covarrubias hit an RBI single to center field, scoring D. Carpentier to make it 1-1. Covarrubias then came around to score the go-ahead run when Au. Lopez followed with an RBI single to right-center, putting USC ahead 2-1.
