Federal authorities have charged a Frisco woman with orchestrating a $2.5 million fraud scheme centered on false psychic abilities. The indictment alleges the defendant, identified as Evans, and a co-conspirator named Uwanawich manipulated victims into sending money. Uwanawich reportedly managed the bank accounts receiving these payments, sold gold coins acquired through the fraud, and assured victims of Evans' supernatural powers.

Prosecutors state the deception continued while Evans was incarcerated in Florida for a separate psychic fraud conviction. Co-conspirators allegedly maintained contact with victims using the alias "Jolene Travis," claiming Evans was attending a wedding or communicating with spirits when she was actually behind bars.

The case highlights a wider trend of confidence and romance scams. Data from the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center indicates Americans lost over $929 million to such fraud in 2025, with more than $584 million coming from victims aged 60 and older. If convicted, both Evans and Uwanawich face up to 20 years in federal prison.
