Frisco residents selected Mark Hill as their next mayor in a runoff election held Saturday. The former Frisco ISD board president secured 58.12 percent of the vote, totaling 19,632 ballots, to defeat businessman Rod Vilhauer, who received 41.88 percent or 14,146 votes. Unofficial results confirmed the outcome after all precincts reported.
Hill’s campaign highlighted unity, public safety, and economic expansion. He also received support from the American Hindu Coalition, which urged South Asian American communities to participate in the vote. Vilhauer, a retired business owner, focused his message on immigration concerns and transparency, stating he would oppose the influence of Sharia law in the city.
In a separate race, Jason Shelton won the Arlington District 8 At-Large City Council seat. The University of Texas at Arlington professor captured 62.79 percent of the vote, or 5,811 ballots, against Arlington ISD trustee Melody Fowler, who earned 37.21 percent. Dream City PAC praised Shelton’s victory, noting his commitment to reflecting the values of Arlington residents.
