A Frisco woman is facing serious criminal charges following an investigation into the welfare of a minor at her residence. Mary Ann Burton, 49, was taken into custody by Frisco police on August 11.

Officers were initially dispatched to a home in the 12000 block of Bethel Drive after receiving reports suggesting possible child neglect and abuse. The call prompted a welfare check at the location.

During their visit, law enforcement determined there was sufficient evidence to pursue legal action. They obtained warrants for Burton’s arrest on two specific counts: injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and endangering a child.

Following her arrest, Burton was booked into the Collin County jail. A judge set her bond at $1.5 million.

Police identified Burton as the mother of the victim in the case. However, authorities have not released any additional details regarding the child’s identity, age, or current condition. The specific facts uncovered during the investigation also remain unclear to the public.

The Frisco Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them directly. Residents can call 972-292-6010. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by texting FRISCOPD to 847411 or through the department’s mobile application.

The information regarding this arrest was released in a social media post by the Frisco Police Department.
