A jury in Collin County convicted 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony of murder and sentenced him to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a Frisco high school track meet last year. The court recently released body camera and surveillance footage capturing the events immediately after the incident. Anthony’s jury rejected his self-defense claims.

The surveillance video, recorded on a rainy day, shows a figure in a gray sweatshirt emerging from behind a yellow tent and running down stadium steps. After tripping, the individual continued along the track’s edge, briefly pausing to look back before being joined by others. He eventually approached a police officer, who handcuffed him. Footage from the officer’s camera shows Anthony crying and stating that the officer put his hands on him despite being told not to. He was then placed in a police cruiser.
