The Big 12 conference is holding its football media days for the second consecutive year in Frisco. The event takes place Tuesday and Wednesday at The Star, bringing head coaches and players together to discuss upcoming season expectations and recent program shifts.
Texas Tech enters the spotlight as it navigates the transition following quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby’s time at the university was brief and complicated by offseason discussions regarding gambling, lawsuits, and eligibility. Head coach Joey McGuire is expected to address the situation and the selection of a new signal caller, potentially sophomore Will Hammond.
Despite the uncertainty at quarterback, the Red Raiders maintain one of the deepest rosters in the conference and aim to position themselves as title contenders.
Oklahoma State is also a primary focus as it debuts under new head coach Eric Morris. Morris arrives from North Texas, where he led the Mean Green to a 12-2 record in 2025. He has utilized the transfer portal to recruit former North Texas players, including quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins, and linebacker Ethan Wesloski.
Morris will speak to the media Tuesday morning, with his new recruits available to discuss their decisions to join the Cowboys.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders will address questions regarding his health following surgery for bladder cancer. Sanders appears confident about his condition as the Buffaloes look to improve after a 3-9 finish in 2025, which included a 1-8 conference record. The team’s performance may depend on quarterback Julian Lewis, who threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns in limited action last season.
