McKinney is preparing to host its annual Red, White and Boom celebration this weekend, marking Independence Day with a full day of activities. The city has released a detailed schedule for the free event, which includes a morning parade, a downtown block party, and an evening concert featuring live music, drones, and fireworks.

The day begins at 10 a.m. with a parade in downtown McKinney. Floats are scheduled to travel north along Tennessee Street and south along Kentucky Street. Immediately following the parade, the East Louisiana Block Party will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can view a map of the parade route, block party location, and designated parking areas on the city’s official website.

Festivities will shift to Towne Lake Park, located at 14015 Wilson Creek Parkway, starting at 6 p.m. The evening program includes live musical performances and a combined drone and fireworks display. The aerial show is expected to begin at 9:40 p.m. Fireworks will be launched from the Grady Littlejohn Softball Fields.

McKinney is about 12 miles east of Frisco.

The city has identified several parking options for attendees. Shuttle service will be available from two locations: the First McKinney Baptist Church at 1615 W. Louisiana St. and the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex at 1986 Park View Ave. These shuttles will transport visitors to Towne Lake Park.

For those preferring to walk, parking is available at the McKinney Senior Recreation Center at 1400 S. College St. and the Collin Central Appraisal District at 250 Eldorado Parkway. The city notes that parking will not be permitted at McKinney High School.

Attendees are allowed to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers containing food, snacks, and nonalcoholic beverages into the event. For additional details on locations and schedules, the city directs the public to its website and a Google My Maps page for the 2026 Red, White and Boom celebration.
