Head Coach Neal Brown has expressed serious concerns about the North Texas Mean Green offensive line as the team gears up for the 2026 season. Following a recent practice, Brown remarked on the unit's struggles, indicating that they are far from meeting the team's requirements, particularly in the run game and pad level.

Last season, the offensive line was instrumental in North Texas' success, contributing to the team leading the nation with 49 rushing touchdowns and being recognized as the top-scoring offense. Key contributors included offensive guard Gabe Blair, who earned First Team All-American Conference honors and was rated the third-best guard by Pro Football Focus.

With the departure of all five starting offensive linemen from the previous year, the team is tasked with rebuilding the unit. Brown mentioned that just two players, senior Johnny Williams IV and fifth-year Chandler Strong, have shown potential during fall camp, with Strong noted as the standout performer.

The urgency is palpable as Brown emphasized the need for a cohesive group, stating that the team cannot compete effectively with only two offensive linemen. All positions on the line are open for competition, as the coaching staff aims to create a physically dominant unit before their first game on September 5.

Brown warned that if the offensive line does not improve, the team will face significant challenges this season.
