DJ Lagway is set to make his debut as Baylor's starting quarterback in a Week 1 matchup against Auburn, taking place at a neutral site in Atlanta. This game marks an important start for both teams, who finished last season with identical records of 5-7.

Baylor's passing game last season was led by Sawyer Robertson, who threw for 3,681 yards, achieving 31 touchdowns against 12 interceptions with a completion percentage of 60.3. The Bears also featured Bryson Washington in the rushing department, who amassed 788 yards on 154 carries, scoring six touchdowns. In terms of receiving, Josh Cameron was a standout with 872 yards from 69 catches and nine touchdowns.

Auburn's offense last year was spearheaded by Jackson Arnold, who recorded 1,309 passing yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions, boasting a completion rate of 63.3%. Jeremiah Cobb led the rushing attack for Auburn, gaining 969 yards on 175 carries with five touchdowns. Cam Coleman was the top receiver, accumulating 708 yards on 56 receptions and five touchdowns.

Both teams are looking to improve their records this season, with Baylor set to host Prairie View A&M on September 12, while Auburn will face Southern Miss on the same day. The upcoming game in Atlanta will be a critical opportunity for both programs to kick off their seasons positively.
