Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently classified as day-to-day following an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The team is optimistic that Lagway will be ready to play in their upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

Lagway sustained the injury during the Bears' narrow 17-16 defeat to Auburn in their season opener. Despite the injury, he played the entire game and managed to lead the offense effectively, although his mobility was limited.

In his debut for Baylor, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes, accumulating 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He played a crucial role in a late-game rally, overcoming a 17-10 deficit. Lagway connected with Gavin Freeman for a 28-yard pass on a critical fourth-and-10 situation, followed by a 27-yard pass to Jadon Porter that brought the Bears to the Auburn 5-yard line.

He capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Freeman with just 9 seconds remaining in the game.

Further updates on Lagway's condition are expected after practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, as the team monitors his recovery.
