Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is set to miss the team’s game against Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury, but a report indicates he could be back for the Bears’ Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is “on track to return” for the matchup with the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders. The report did not confirm that he will play.

Lagway sustained the injury during Baylor’s season-opening 17-16 loss to Auburn. Sources previously told On3 Sports that the junior quarterback suffered a high-ankle sprain. Baylor coach Dave Aranda had described Lagway as day-to-day earlier in the week.

Lagway did not play in Baylor’s next game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View. The Bears are scheduled to face Louisiana Tech before opening conference play against Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the timing of Lagway’s return remains uncertain beyond the indication that he is progressing toward the Colorado game.
