Houston will be without wide receiver Nico Collins when the Texans play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Collins was ruled out because of a hamstring injury after missing practice during the week.
The injury is a Grade 1 strain Collins suffered during practice last week. He also sat out Houston’s loss to Cincinnati, meaning the Texans will be without their leading receiving threat for a second straight game. sports.yahoo.com reported the ruling, citing NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Houston is 0-2 after producing only six points in a 20-6 loss to the Bengals. The Colts are also 0-2, and the teams will meet while each searches for its first win of the season.
Tight end Dalton Schultz could receive additional opportunities in Collins’ absence. Schultz caught 12 of 14 passes thrown his way for 140 yards against Cincinnati, including eight receptions in the fourth quarter, and he leads Houston with 16 catches for 175 yards through two games.
The Texans could also use more tight ends or seek greater production from their running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks combined for limited results against Cincinnati, when Houston’s running backs averaged 1.5 yards per carry.
