The Dallas Cowboys expect defensive players Jonathan Bullard and Jalen Thompson to miss extended time after injuries suffered during the team's first three regular-season games. Bullard is projected to be out three to five weeks with a calf injury, while Thompson faces at least four weeks away because of a hamstring issue.

The latest injuries came during Dallas' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio, which also left cornerback Shavon Revel dealing with knee and ankle problems. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Revel was progressing well and could return to practice this week. A possible appearance against Houston in Week 4 remains open, although the team has not confirmed that he will play.

Bullard's absence is expected to extend through multiple games, and he had already missed most of training camp because of an earlier injury. Thompson could join safety P.J. Locke on injured reserve with a designation to return, according to the report.

The Cowboys also do not expect Cobie Durant to travel to South Texas as he continues recovering from a hamstring injury. Malik Hooker, who sustained a fractured forearm in the season opener, may need additional time before returning. DeMarvion Overshown, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, could resume practicing this week.

The injuries have prompted Dallas to conduct workouts involving several players, including former Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas. The depleted safety group is part of the personnel situation facing first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker as the team prepares to visit the Texans, who are still without a win.
