Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith is scheduled to have surgery on his injured thumb, as reported by Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News.

The 25-year-old Smith is anticipated to be sidelined for four to six weeks and is likely to be placed on injured reserve in the near future.

In Smith's absence, T.J. Bass is expected to take over as the starting left guard for the Cowboys as they prepare for the upcoming regular season.
