The Houston Texans have acquired wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots in a trade finalized earlier this week. The Texans sent a seventh-round pick and safety Jayden Reed to New England in exchange for Boutte, who had spent three seasons with the Patriots.

This trade comes in response to the recent injury of second-year receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL during practice.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke about the trade following a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers, highlighting Boutte's potential impact on the team's offense. Ryans described Boutte as a significant addition, especially in light of Higgins' absence. "Adding Kayshon is a big get for us," Ryans stated. He noted Boutte's ability to make plays and his experience against the Texans in previous matchups.

Boutte, a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has demonstrated consistent performance during his time in New England. In the 2025 season, he recorded 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns, contributing to the Patriots' Super Bowl appearance. This marked his second consecutive season with over 30 catches and 500 yards, while also doubling his touchdown count from the previous year.

The Texans are looking to fill the void left by Higgins with Boutte, who is expected to complement Nico Collins as an outside receiver capable of making significant plays downfield. Ryans expressed optimism about Boutte's future development, noting that he is still a young player with room to grow.

The Texans hope that Boutte's proven track record and motivation in a contract year will enhance their passing offense this season.

Further details regarding Boutte's integration into the Texans' system and his performance in upcoming games are not yet clear.
