The University of North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against Indiana University, ranked No. 6. This matchup is set for September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

Jackson, a native of Greenwood, Indiana, previously played for Indiana University for two seasons. He had a notable high school career at Center Grove before transferring from Tennessee to IU. After two years with the Hoosiers, he moved to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season, where he recorded 2,151 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

His connection to Indiana University is personal as well; he is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who plans to attend the game in support of him. This game will also mark IU's first since they celebrated their national championship win in January.
