Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23.
The award recognizes a scholarship athlete whose accomplishments include academic performance, play on the field and leadership. The source did not provide additional details about Kanu’s selection.
Texas has produced finalists for the award in each of the past two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore reached the finalist stage in 2025, following center Jake Majors in 2024.
The Longhorns have also had two Campbell Trophy winners. Defensive end Sam Acho received the honor in 2010, and center Dallas Griffin won it in 2007.
