Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte spoke to the media for the first time since being traded from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans. This press conference took place one week after the trade, where Boutte discussed his initial impressions of the Texans and the reasons behind his departure from New England.
Boutte had requested a trade during the offseason, citing a desire for a larger role as a key factor in his decision. He mentioned that the arrival of two new players, Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown, significantly impacted his position on the Patriots.
Doubs was signed to a four-year contract worth $68 million, while Brown was acquired through a trade that involved first- and fifth-round draft picks.
These acquisitions altered the dynamics of the Patriots' wide receiver group, leading to Boutte being positioned as the fourth wide receiver during training camp behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Despite having a productive 2024 season with 42 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, Boutte faced the possibility of being inactive on game days, as noted by head coach Mike Vrabel after the preseason finale.
