A recent ruling from a Dallas court has allowed 18 college football players, including SMU's Ahmaad Moses, to extend their eligibility for the 2026 season. This decision comes just ahead of the college football season and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling from July 31, which initially permitted athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to seek an extra year.
The NCAA's appeal of that earlier decision has been temporarily overridden by this injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has played 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. He was key to SMU's achievements, contributing to a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
In the previous season, Moses led the team with 104 tackles and five interceptions, alongside 5.5 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.
Moses had a notable performance against Miami (FL), where he achieved a career-high 15 tackles and two interceptions. After declaring for the NFL Draft following the 2025 season, he faced challenges due to a herniated disk and subsequent spinal fusion surgery. This injury allowed him to qualify for a return under the new eligibility rules.
