The Houston Texans have signed quarterback Brett Rypien to a contract as of Saturday. This move comes after Graham Mertz was placed on season-ending injured reserve, prompting the Texans to seek additional depth at the quarterback position.
Rypien, who previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, participated in one regular-season game in 2025, during which he took three offensive snaps. With his signing, he will serve as an emergency option behind starters C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills.
