The Houston Texans have signed wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, as reported by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, a 26-year-old player who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he recorded eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns last season.
His departure from the Bengals comes as the team has a deep roster of wide receivers, prompting interest from multiple teams.
In a reaction to the signing, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. noted that Tinsley likely sees a better opportunity for playing time in Houston, especially as the Texans have been seeking additional depth at the wide receiver position this month. Tinsley joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, as reported by Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
Tinsley had a standout preseason in 2025, which led to his initial roster spot with Cincinnati.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has made four starts in 19 regular-season games to date. He is characterized as a possession receiver with good ball skills, although he lacks top-end speed and quickness for separation.
