Nimmo's Key Contributions

Harrison Nimmo provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers on Monday, recording three hits to help secure a 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Nimmo’s performance included a crucial run scored in the fourth inning and another in the eighth, anchoring the Rangers' scoring output in a tightly contested game at loanDepot Park.

The Rangers took an early 2-0 lead in the fourth inning when Leody Duran launched a 407-foot home run to center field. Nimmo crossed the plate as a result of the home run, giving Texas an early advantage that the Marlins would work hard to erase.

Marlins Fight Back

Miami responded in the fifth inning, narrowing the deficit to 2-1. Jose Sanoja hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Adam Caissie to score. The Marlins continued to apply pressure in the sixth inning, tying the game at 2-2 when Khalil Edwards tripled to left field. Edwards scored the tying run but was out stretching at home plate, preserving the balanced scoreline entering the later innings.

Late Inning Drama

The game’s momentum shifted in the eighth inning as Texas regained the lead. Jonathan Osuna doubled to right field, allowing Nimmo to score and put the Rangers ahead 3-2. Osuna advanced to third base on the play. The Rangers extended their lead to 4-2 shortly after when Adolis Díaz hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Osuna.

Miami attempted a final rally, cutting the deficit to 4-3 when Jesus Luzardo (listed as Stowers in scoring data) doubled to right field, allowing Joshua Mach to score. However, the Marlins could not complete the comeback, and the Rangers held on for the win.

Pitching Decisions

Robby Ahlstrom earned the win for Texas, pitching a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Jakob Junis recorded the save, working 0.2 innings and allowing one earned run. Jacob Latz closed out the game with 1.1 innings of work, striking out two batters. Tyler Alexander and Kumar Rocker also contributed, with Rocker striking out nine batters over five innings despite allowing two earned runs.

For Miami, Tyler Phillips started and pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs. Calvin Faucher took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing two earned runs. Michael Petersen and Anthony Bender also appeared in relief, while Dax Fulton pitched a scoreless inning to end the game.

The final score of 4-3 improved the Texas Rangers' record to 38-40, while the Miami Marlins fell to 40-39. The game was attended by 20,008 fans at loanDepot Park.
