Deciding Runs
The Texas Rangers secured a 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday, with the decisive offensive burst coming in the third inning. Wyatt Langford provided the game’s initial momentum by hitting a 403-foot home run to left field. The blast drove in Higashioka and Lopez, giving Texas an early 3-0 advantage that proved sufficient for the final margin.
San Diego attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth inning, managing to tie the game at 3-3 before the Rangers regained the lead. The Padres loaded the bases and capitalized on defensive opportunities. Sheets reached base on a single to right, allowing Merrill to score and put San Diego on the board. Machado followed, scoring on a Bogaerts single to center, though Sheets was thrown out at home. The tying run came when Song doubled to right, bringing Bogaerts home. Texas responded immediately in the same frame. Jung singled to left, scoring Lopez to restore the Rangers' one-run lead at 4-3.
Pitching Performances
Nathan Eovaldi earned the win for Texas, pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out nine batters while walking only one, providing the stability needed to withstand the Padres' fourth-inning rally. Eovaldi’s record improved to 7-7 with the victory.
The Rangers’ bullpen maintained the lead without allowing any additional runs. Peyton Gray pitched a perfect inning, striking out two batters, followed by Robby Ahlstrom, who also retired the side in order despite issuing a walk. Jakob Junis closed the game with a scoreless inning, recording one strikeout to earn his fifth save.
