Chris Sale established early control for the Atlanta Braves, delivering a masterful seven-inning performance that set the tone for a lopsided victory. Sale allowed just two hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters, earning the win and improving his record to 10-6.
His ability to limit the Texas Rangers' offense early prevented any momentum from building, forcing the Rangers' bullpen to face high-leverage situations with the deficit already insurmountable.
Braves' Offensive Explosion
The Braves' bats woke up in the second inning, capitalizing on Rangers starter Cal Quantrill. Austin Riley drove in the first run with a single that scored Smith, followed by another run on an Austin Albies single that scored Riley. The scoring continued in the fourth inning when Travis d'Arnaud homered to center field, a 419-foot shot that brought in Jarred Kelenic and Adam Duvall.
Olson added another solo home run to right field, extending the lead to 6-0.
Atlanta's offense remained relentless in the fifth inning. Kelenic doubled, scoring Smith, and d'Arnaud singled to center to bring Kelenic home, making it 8-0. The seventh inning saw a massive three-run blast from Riley, who doubled and scored on a Harris II double that also brought in Olson and Albies.
Dubón followed with a single to score Harris II, pushing the score to 12-0. The Braves added three more runs in the eighth inning. Riley homered to left, and Mederos singled to left, scoring Kelenic and Mateo, bringing the final tally to 15-1.
