Deciding Blow in the Seventh

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 4-3 at T-Mobile Park on Thursday, September 10. The decisive sequence occurred in the bottom of the seventh inning when Luis Rodríguez connected with a three-run home run to left center. The blast traveled 410 feet and cleared the fence, allowing Canzone and Raleigh to score and giving Seattle the lead they did not relinquish.

This was one of only two home runs recorded in the entire contest.

Early Momentum for Seattle

The Mariners established an early lead in the third inning. Pederson launched a two-run homer to right center that traveled 385 feet, scoring Lopez and putting Seattle up 2-0. The lead extended to 3-0 in the fifth inning when Lopez reached on a bunt single to the pitcher, allowing Carter to cross the plate and advancing Burger to second base.

Texas answered with a single run in the seventh inning. Canzone singled to left field, and Arozarena scored to cut the deficit to 3-1 before the final scoring play.

Pitching Performance

Logan Gilbert earned the win for Seattle, recording 12-9 on the season. He pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out 11 batters. He walked two batters.

Jakob Junis took the loss for Texas, dropping to 1-3 with two blown saves. He did not record an out, allowing three hits and four earned runs. Gabe Speier pitched one scoreless inning with two strikeouts and recorded his 20th hold.

Andres Munoz closed the game with one scoreless inning, two walks, and no strikeouts, securing his 27th save. Robert Garcia and Robby Ahlstrom each pitched one inning for Texas, with Garcia striking out two batters without allowing a hit and Ahlstrom striking out two batters while walking two.

Final Records

The Mariners improved their record to 69-78. The Rangers fell to 72-75. Attendance at T-Mobile Park was 24,784.
