Those four hits and five RBIs were season highs, the Associated Press reported, and they carried the Texas Rangers past the Athletics 8-5 on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field. ESPN's box matches that line: Nimmo 4-for-5 with a double and five RBIs, lifting his average to .269.
Texas moved to 69-70 and pulled within one game of first-place Houston in the American League West after the Astros lost 5-1 to the Chicago White Sox. The Athletics fell to 53-86 and have lost five straight.
Every RBI had Seager or Langford in motion
Seager doubled twice and scored on Nimmo's first three RBI hits, the AP noted. In the fifth, Joc Pederson pinch-hit a single and Seager walked; Langford singled to load the bases; Nimmo's bouncing single to right scored Pederson and Seager for a 4-1 lead. Ezequiel Durán's groundout then scored Langford.
In the sixth, after sacrifice flies from Logan O'Hoppe and Seager, Langford doubled and Nimmo singled him home for an 8-1 cushion.

Gore held the early edge; the ninth got loud
MacKenzie Gore (8-10) worked 5 1/3 innings with five hits, one run, four walks, and four strikeouts on 95 pitches. Jacob Latz struck out both batters he faced for his 28th save in 31 chances after the Athletics turned an 8-1 deficit into a save situation.
Jeff McNeil's two-run homer in the ninth - ESPN measured it at 392 feet to right-center - made the final 8-5. The Athletics finished with 11 hits, seven walks, and two hit batters but stranded 14 runners and left the bases loaded twice, the AP said.
