The Stars’ Oct. 2 loss to St. Louis ended a run of opening-night wins. Dallas had won its preceding six season openers, dating to 2020-21.

The Associated Press also reported that Dallas had not previously been shut out in a home opener since the franchise moved to Texas before 1993-94.

The two descriptions cover different sets of games: a season opener is the first game anywhere, while a home opener is the first on home ice. This matchup at American Airlines Center was both for Dallas.

St. Louis won 4-0. Joel Hofer stopped all 25 shots he faced.
