The Dallas Stars, whose practice facility and executive offices are in Frisco, delivered a second straight shutout Thursday, Oct. 8, beating Buffalo 4–0 at KeyBank Center.
Mikko Rantanen contributed to every Dallas goal, finishing with one goal and three assists. Wyatt Johnston added three assists, while Jake Oettinger stopped all 26 Buffalo shots. The result followed Monday’s 5–0 victory over San Jose and gave Dallas another convincing response after its difficult opening games.
Jason Robertson opened the scoring just over nine minutes into the first period. Dallas then separated itself with three goals in a little more than six minutes during the second. Sam Steel scored first in that sequence, Rantanen followed, and Roope Hintz converted a power-play opportunity to complete the scoring.
The special-teams contrast was important. Dallas scored once in two power-play opportunities, while Buffalo failed on all three of its chances. Hintz’s goal was the Stars’ first power-play goal of the season. Buffalo’s inability to answer helped preserve a comfortable margin through the final period.
In the Stars’ postgame account, coach Glen Gulutzan praised the team’s connected play and described the performance as better than Monday’s.
