Sweden's men's national team has begun settling into its Frisco base as the 2026 FIFA World Cup moves from planning to game week.

The assignment puts Frisco in a different kind of World Cup role. The city is not hosting a match, but FC Dallas Stadium is serving as Sweden's team base camp training site, the place where the national team trains, recovers, holds meetings and handles much of its day-to-day tournament operation between matches.

FIFA's final team base camp list places Sweden at FC Dallas Stadium in the Dallas area. U.S. Soccer's directory lists the same assignment as Sweden - Frisco, Texas - FC Dallas Stadium. FC Dallas previously said the Frisco facility met FIFA's technical and operational requirements, citing multiple training pitches, recovery amenities and secure team environments designed for international competition.

What Sweden's Stay Means Locally

For Frisco residents, the most immediate impact is visibility. A national team will be based around Toyota Stadium and the nearby hotel corridor during one of the world's largest sporting events, while fans, media and team staff move through the region.

Community Impact reported that Sweden will use Toyota Stadium as its training facility and stay at the nearby Westin Dallas Stonebriar Golf Resort and Spa between games. The outlet also reported that construction tied to Toyota Stadium's renovation is expected to pause while Sweden uses the facility, then resume after the summer.

KERA reported that FC Dallas President Dan Hunt expected Sweden to begin practicing at Toyota Stadium around June 5 and said FIFA requires teams to hold open practices. Specific timing, ticketing or public access details were not included in the available source material, so residents should wait for official announcements before making plans around any practice sessions.

The Match Schedule

Sweden's group-stage schedule keeps the team moving across North America while Frisco remains its training base. KERA reported that Sweden is scheduled to open against Tunisia on June 14 in Guadalupe, Mexico; face the Netherlands on June 20 in Houston; and play Japan on June 25 in Arlington.

That final group-stage match gives Frisco a direct North Texas connection. Sweden's team base is in Frisco, while its closest listed match is at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, known during the tournament as Dallas Stadium.

A Sports-City Moment

Frisco has been building around soccer for years through FC Dallas, Toyota Stadium and the National Soccer Hall of Fame. The World Cup base camp gives the city a more global version of that identity.

Visit Frisco has already framed the base camp as part of the city's soccer culture, noting that Frisco is the official team base camp for the Sweden men's national team during the tournament. The city's role will likely be quieter than a match-day host city, but for hotels, restaurants, soccer families and local businesses around the stadium, Sweden's stay is still a meaningful spotlight.

A Swedish outlet, Aftonbladet, reported that the team made its first training session at Toyota Stadium after arriving in the Dallas area, with rain hitting Frisco around the arrival window. That kind of early weather wrinkle is a reminder that Frisco's World Cup role is not just ceremonial. For the next stretch of the tournament, it is part training ground, part operations hub and part international front porch.
