Frisco, Texas — Offensive tackle Ismael Camara, a consensus five-star recruit out of Gilmer, pledged to the Texas Longhorns on the Fourth of July. The 247Sports Composite slots him as the No. 20 prospect nationally and the No. 3 player at his position in the 2027 cycle.

The 6-foot-6, 340-pounder picked Texas over ten finalists, a group that included Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. A native of France who settled in East Texas, Camara drew approximately forty offers after his first varsity season.

His commitment represents the 22nd pledge for the Texas 2027 class and the fifth offensive lineman, bolstering a group tutored by Kyle Flood. The class ranks No. 4 in the country in the team standings.

Though his on-field background remains limited, evaluators point to Camara's prototypical frame, footwork, and flexibility as the foundation of his five-star status. He saw action at left tackle, defensive line, and on special teams in 2025 and is poised for a larger senior campaign.

Texas has reinforced its 2027 class with recent additions including four-star cornerback Brandon Sherrard, who committed on July 1, keeping the group in the national top five.
