Frisco now runs a two-layer kids destination stack that most North Texas suburbs cannot match: a permanent Universal Destinations & Experiences theme park and hotel complex that opened July 1, 2026, and an established indoor role-play city that has sat inside Stonebriar Centre since 2019.
The newest Collin County add-on is not in Frisco at all - PAW Patrol Rescue Pups, a limited-time immersive announced for Plano this fall - but it still changes how regional day-trip itineraries get packaged around the Dallas North Tollway corridor.
Universal Kids Resort occupies a roughly 97-acre property off the Tollway, with about 32 acres of park and a 300-room Universal Kids Resort Hotel on site.
Universal Destinations & Experiences designed the park for young children ages about 3-8 across seven themed lands, including Shrek's Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, TrollsFest, Puss in Boots Del Mar, and Isle of Curiosity (Gabby's Dollhouse). Dallas Morning News preview coverage in June 2026 cited one-day passes starting at $54.99.
Community Impact, quoting general manager Dan Cuffe, reported more than 4,100 construction jobs with more than 85 percent filled locally in North Texas, about 1,200 park team members before opening, and an expectation of roughly 1,500 at opening.
KidZania was already here - and it is in Frisco, not Dallas city limits
Before Universal's gates opened, Frisco already hosted the first U.S. KidZania. Branded KidZania Dallas, the attraction sits at Stonebriar Centre, 2601 Preston Rd., Suite 3011, Frisco, TX 75034. Soft opening landed mid-November 2019; grand opening followed Nov. 23, 2019.
Contemporary Community Impact and ICSC coverage put the indoor footprint near 85,000 square feet, with kids roughly ages 4-14 role-playing careers, earning KidZos currency, and entering through a Boeing 737 fuselage airport set piece. The official site still lists seasonal hours in 2026. Geography matters for tourism accounting: the brand says Dallas; the lease and address say Frisco.
Together, Universal Kids and KidZania give Frisco both outdoor destination-scale visitation and year-round mall-anchored indoor demand - different price points, age bands, and dwell times sharing the same city's retail and lodging ecosystem.
Official expectations, not yet measured outcomes
Frisco's mayor and economic-development voices have publicly linked the Universal project to housing demand near the site, quality-of-life branding, and potential sales-tax and business-magnet effects. Those remain attributed official expectations in the sourced coverage, not independently measured post-opening results.
Visit Frisco's Marla Roe, cited by Community Impact on June 18, 2026, pointed to a roughly five-hour drive radius spanning Houston, Austin, and San Antonio and a shift toward family hotel demand - again, a destination-marketing frame rather than a visitor-census release.
Nearby Plano fills a short-run gap
Paramount Products & Experiences and Egan Productions announced Aug. 20, 2026, that PAW Patrol Rescue Pups: An Immersive Experience will open fall 2026 at 2712 N Central Expy in Plano, remain through the holidays, then tour other cities in early 2027. It is a retail-space immersive of about 45-60 minutes per visit, not a permanent park, and ticket pricing was not stated in the announcement.
