Residents who missed the online sign-up for Saturday's creek cleanup can still take part by showing up early.

The city's Environmental Services and Stormwater teams run Clean It & Green It: Streams on Saturday, Oct. 24, with litter pickup from 9 to 11 a.m. The event, which the city says used to be called Stream Clean, focuses on trash along local waterways.

Pre-registration closed Sunday, Oct. 18. According to the city's cleanup page, people who did not pre-register can still register on the day itself starting at 8 a.m., although advance registration is encouraged to make sure there are enough supplies.

How the morning works

Check-in and supply pickup run from 8 to 9 a.m. at the city's Environmental Collection Center at 6616 Walnut St. Every participant has to be covered by a signed waiver, and a parent or guardian must sign for anyone under 18.

Volunteers can come alone, as a family or as a group. The city will assign a cleanup location, or volunteers can pick a stretch they already know. Each participant gets gloves, trash bags and hand sanitizer, and the city says event T-shirts go out until the supply runs out.

After the two-hour cleanup, volunteers have from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to bring their bags and leftover supplies back to the collection center.

More cleanups on the calendar

The streams event is one of four quarterly litter pickups the city hosts. The next one, Clean It & Green It: Fall, is set for Saturday, Dec. 12, and will not require pre-registration. A winter cleanup is planned for February 2027 and the annual Earth Day cleanup for April 2027, with exact dates still to be posted.

Details are on the city's Community Cleanups page at friscotexas.gov/1186/Community-Cleanups.
