The Rail District's newest public space gets its formal debut next week. The city has scheduled five straight evenings of events, Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 17, to open 4th Street Plaza, the outdoor gathering spot that links Elm Street and Main Street.

The plaza includes a stage, a lawn with open seating, covered tables, restrooms, public art and murals, and gateway monuments marking the Rail District. The city's event listing invites visitors to park in the Rail District's new five-story garage.

In its October report to the City Council, the Play Frisco department said crews were still finishing work at the site and that natural resources staff were keeping the plaza clean and open in the meantime. The council meets Tuesday, Oct. 6, and its agenda also includes a Rail District update.

The schedule

  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: A ribbon cutting and celebration kickoff runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: Plated: A Chef's Table on Main, a ticketed outdoor dinner on Main Street, runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Chefs from La Finca, Dad Jokes Cheesyburgers, Didi's Downtown, Randy's Steakhouse, Heritage Table, La Suprema and Eight 11 Place are cooking. Plates cost $50 and come with a non-alcoholic drink; alcohol is sold separately, and the organizers say the menu is set with no substitutions.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14: The Frisco Improv Players perform from 7 to 8 p.m. Free.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15: Glow in the Dark Yoga Night runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Free.
  • Friday, Oct. 16: Plaza Live! with the Patrick Casey Band plays from 7 to 9 p.m. Free.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17: From This Ground, a community art activity with live music presented with KTCHN 28, runs from 4 to 7 p.m.

After opening week

The plaza already hosts free Sunrise Yoga on Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; no sign-up is needed, but participants bring their own mats. A Coffee & Culture conversation with Play Frisco's cultural affairs manager is set for Oct. 21 from 8 to 9 a.m.

Later this fall, the Frisco Community Parade returns to the Rail District on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m., and a holiday tree lighting at the plaza is planned for Nov. 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The city says it will start taking applications to rent the plaza for private events in January 2027.
