Frisco — Gas prices in the Dallas area averaged $3.1780 per gallon for regular unleaded on June 28, according to AAA, down slightly from yesterday. That's down from $3.4380 a week ago and substantially lower than $3.9240 a month ago.
The statewide average in Texas stands at $3.3100, while the national average is $3.8670. Motorists in the Dallas area are paying less than the state average and less than the national average.
Gas prices in the Dallas area have fallen substantially from their highs. Prices have dropped about 61 cents over the past month, driven by lower crude oil costs and strong refinery output. Compared to a year ago, when the state average was $2.7810, drivers are now paying about 53 cents more per gallon.
