Nolan Arenado provided the difference in a tight contest, driving in two runs on a home run to left-center field. The blast, which traveled 385 feet, also carried Marte home, extending Arizona’s lead to 3-1. This two-run homer was the only multi-run play of the game and ultimately separated the Diamondbacks from the Astros in a final score of 3-2.

The Astros opened scoring in the first inning when Yordan Alvarez hit a home run to right field, carrying the ball 337 feet. Arizona tied the game in the second inning when Josh McCann hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Carroll to score. After Arenado’s three-run sequence in the third, the score remained 3-1 until the eighth inning. In that frame, Wade Jr. singled to left field, allowing Altuve to score and Walker to reach second base. That run made the final margin 3-2. The game ended with the Diamondbacks holding the lead.

Eduardo Rodriguez earned the win for Arizona, pitching six innings while allowing three hits and one earned run. He issued two walks and struck out six batters. His record improved to 15-5. Kevin Ginkel closed the game, pitching one inning with three strikeouts and no hits or earned runs, saving the win to bring his save total to three.
