Overmyer catches four TDs as Houston defeats Kansas State 35-16

Patrick Overmyer hauled in four touchdown passes from Conner Weigman as the Cougars built a 35-9 lead through three quarters and went on to defeat Kansas State 35-16 on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Houston builds control

Overmyer’s 1-yard reception from Weigman opened the scoring in the first period, with Jonathan Dimas converting the kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez’s 29-yard field goal, but Houston led 7-3 after one quarter.

The Cougars added two touchdowns in the second period. Overmyer scored on a 2-yard pass from Weigman, then Makhi Hughes ran 13 yards for another Houston touchdown. Dimas made both kicks, and Houston carried a 21-3 advantage into halftime.

Overmyer stays involved

Houston extended the margin in the third period when Overmyer caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Weigman. Kansas State responded with Garrett Oakley’s 13-yard touchdown reception from Avery Johnson, although the two-point pass conversion failed.

The Cougars answered before the quarter ended. Overmyer caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Weigman, and Dimas’ kick made the score 35-9. Kansas State’s final points came in the fourth period on Jaron Tibbs’ 6-yard touchdown reception from Johnson, followed by Rodriguez’s kick.

By quarter, Houston scored 7, 14, 14 and 0 points, while Kansas State scored 3, 0, 6 and 7.

By the numbers

Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns for Houston. Overmyer had eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns. Re'Shaun Sanford II ran 20 times for 90 yards, and Hughes added 78 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Kansas State. Oakley made three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown, and Rodney Fields Jr. carried 14 times for 46 yards.

The game was played at Bill Snyder Family Stadium before an attendance of 51,569. Kansas State fell to 3-2, while Houston moved to 5-1.
