The animated series "King of the Hill" has made its return to Hulu with all 10 episodes of season 15 released on July 20. This season continues to draw inspiration from Richardson, Texas, the real-life model for the show's fictional town of Arlen. The series has been renewed through season 17 following its revival in 2025.
Co-creator Mike Judge, who lived in Richardson during the 1990s, has acknowledged the city as a key influence on Arlen. While the town is a blend of various Dallas-area suburbs, it captures the essence of mid-century suburban life, characterized by wide streets and backyard gatherings.
This season, the connection to Richardson is more pronounced, featuring the University of Texas at Dallas, located on West Campbell Road in the city's Telecom Corridor. Notable North Texas landmarks also appear, including scenes with Hank repairing Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas and a nod to Whataburger.
The storyline follows Hank and Peggy as they navigate retirement on Rainey Street, while their son Bobby, now an adult, operates a fusion restaurant in Dallas and seeks a spot on a cooking reality show. The voice cast returns, including Mike Judge and Kathy Najimy, maintaining the show's original charm.
