The Dallas Cowboys have commenced their three-day mandatory minicamp in Frisco, with star wide receiver George Pickens present for his physical on Monday. Pickens had missed all previous voluntary offseason activities, and his attendance avoids potential fines. Reports indicate he will participate throughout the week.
Pickens remains under a franchise tag for a single season. The organization previously stated it would not pursue a long-term contract or trade him before the NFL draft. The window to trade him closes on July 15.
The team also introduced a new defensive coordinator and selected defensive players Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence with their first two draft picks. Starters Donovan Ezeiruaku and DaRon Bland are currently recovering from surgery. The squad aims to improve upon a defensive performance that ranked among the worst in franchise history last season.
