Frisco Police and the Waxahachie Police Department arrested 50-year-old Jason Honrud on a murder warrant Wednesday morning. Honrud is the third person taken into custody regarding the 2002 death of Frank Weiss, a Plano resident whose body was discovered near Lake Lewisville in the Frisco city limits.

The investigation was revived earlier this year by six detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit, who began re-interviewing witnesses. Weiss was found wrapped in black bags, tied with rope, and weighed down by 50-pound sandbags duct-taped to his legs. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner determined he had been shot twice in the chest with a .38 caliber gun.

Weiss was last seen dining with Honrud at Uncle Julio’s two days before his body was found. Honrud previously told investigators Weiss had traveled to Cancun, a statement detectives described as deceptive. Weiss had filed for annulment alleging infidelity less than a week before his death, shortly after his then-wife, Lisa Honrud, moved out of their home. Lisa Honrud was arrested in April, and Keith Hart was taken into custody in May. It is not yet clear if any of the suspects have secured legal representation.
