The PGA of America, which moved its headquarters to Frisco three years ago, reports that it has already hosted major events and generated millions in economic impact. The organization projects $2.5 billion in future economic benefits for North Texas. This outlook comes as preparations accelerate for the 2027 PGA Championship, scheduled to take place at the PGA of America’s Frisco facility in ten months.
The tournament will mark the first men’s major championship in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1963. Organizers describe the event as the largest and most significant golf tournament in Texas history. The competition will be held 950 miles from the Masters, which is currently taking place in Augusta, Georgia.
Officials expect approximately 200,000 visitors to attend the event at the 660-acre PGA Frisco property. The influx of attendees is anticipated to bring more than 400 private planes to the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The local community is projected to see an economic impact exceeding $100 million.
The tournament will be broadcast to an estimated half-billion viewers across 170 countries. Although the first tee time is set for May 20 of next year, ticket registration is now open. The planning process has been underway for nearly a decade.
Frisco, known as Sports City USA, is coordinating with numerous civic, sports, and business stakeholders to ensure the event’s success. The PGA of America opened its doors four years ago with a commitment to host major tournaments.
