Avelo Airlines has identified five initial nonstop destinations for McKinney National Airport (DTX), with service scheduled to begin on November 11, 2026. The carrier will operate flights to Las Vegas, Nevada, and four Florida cities: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa. These inaugural flights will coincide with the opening of a newly constructed passenger terminal at the airport, which has recently received its designation as a commercial service facility.

The airline plans to operate flights from DTX on Wednesdays through Mondays. The November 11 start date allows travelers to utilize the service for the Veterans Day holiday period. Avelo will base two aircraft at the airport, which is located approximately 12 miles east of Frisco. Company officials stated this investment reflects a long-term commitment to the region and is expected to generate more than 100 new jobs.

Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, described the carrier as the anchor tenant at DTX. He noted that the airline aims to provide low fares and reliable service to North Texas travelers. The McKinney base will serve as one of five national crew bases for the airline. Employment opportunities will include positions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents.

The airport’s new terminal, located at 1910 FM 546, spans 46,000 square feet and is expected to be completed in November 2026. The facility will initially feature four boarding gates, with capacity to expand to six. Amenities include centralized food and beverage concessions, open hold rooms, a 980-space public parking lot, and onsite car rental and ground transportation services.

City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, stating that the new service addresses demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He emphasized McKinney’s growing role in the region’s future and its appeal to residents and businesses. Airport Director of Aviation Ken Carley expressed gratitude to the partners and agencies involved in the project, noting that years of planning have led to this milestone.

Further details regarding specific flight frequencies or pricing structures were not provided in the source material.
