BasePoint, a Texas-based behavioral health organization, opened a new facility in McKinney on June 17. The location, situated at 4601 Medical Center Drive, serves as the fourth physical site for the organization and introduces its BreakThrough program. This initiative targets individuals aged 18 to 35, offering partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services. The center operates daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
McKinney is located approximately 12 miles east of Frisco. The new site joins existing BasePoint locations in Arlington, Frisco, and Forney. Hope Windsor, the executive director of the McKinney facility, stated that the organization aims to address the specific needs of young adults who face complex challenges during this developmental stage. She noted that the program is designed to support independence, life skills, and long-term growth.
BasePoint describes the BreakThrough program as a way to help young adults manage mental health issues while navigating emerging adulthood. The organization asserts that it provides customized care to support education, employment, and relationships. Windsor explained that the program expands support systems similar to those offered in their Academy program for adolescents, recognizing emerging adulthood as a distinct phase requiring specialized attention.
The organization highlights that Texas ranks 50th in access to mental health care, according to recent U.S. Census data. It also cites data suggesting that fewer than one in four young adults have reached key life milestones. BasePoint states it is responding to rising rates of anxiety and depression among young people amid academic and economic pressures.
