A Frisco ISD student secured a national championship while three classmates earned silver medals at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America National Leadership Conference held in Washington, D.C.
Shruthika Omkumar, a Lebanon Trail High School student, was named the National Champion and Gold Medalist in the School to Career Challenge Test Level 2. She also received Silver Medal Finalist recognition in the Sustainability Challenge Level 2.
Three other district students placed as Silver Medal Finalists. Lauren Field from Wakeland High School earned honors in the Focus on Children Level 3 category. Pramiti Thoppe of Emerson High School was recognized in the Sustainability Challenge Level 3. Naumika Dantuluri, also from Wakeland High School, received an award in the Chapter in Review Portfolio Level 3.
The four medalists were part of a group of eight Frisco ISD FCCLA members who qualified for the national event after achieving top placements at the state level. FCCLA is one of several career and technical student organizations available to district students, designed to help participants develop critical thinking, communication, and career preparation skills.
During their time in the nation's capital, the students participated in a tour of the U.S. Capitol. The visit was organized by staff from the office of U.S. Rep. Pat Fallon.
