Frisco health inspectors issued a closure order to one local restaurant and identified pest-related violations at another during a recent inspection cycle. The data, covering 52 inspections conducted between Aug. 23 and Aug. 29, was compiled by the Star-Telegram.
The city utilizes a demerit-based scoring system for food safety compliance. Establishments that accumulate more than 30 demerits are considered to have failed the inspection. In such cases, inspectors have the discretion to close the business, a decision that weighs the severity of violations, the facility's past record, and other relevant factors.
Hifi Bros, located at 2552 Stonebrook Parkway, was the sole establishment to fail the initial inspection with a score of 35. Inspectors documented multiple food safety concerns, including incorrect holding temperatures, improper thawing methods, the presence of moldy limes, and unsafe storage conditions. A subsequent re-inspection yielded a lower score of 13, though inspectors indicated that food safety issues remained present at the location.
Rotate Bar & Kitchen, situated at 5454 Main St., received a score of 14. During the visit, inspectors discovered rodent droppings in the dry storage area, the kitchen, and the back of house. The report also noted problems with cold holding temperatures at this establishment.
