Avelo Airlines has announced it will launch commercial service at McKinney National Airport, establishing itself as the first and only hometown airline for Collin County. The new route network will connect the region to Las Vegas and four Florida cities, with operations commencing in mid-November.
Service begins on Wednesday, November 11, with flights to Fort Myers, Florida. The airline will also operate nonstop routes to Las Vegas, Nevada; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Orlando, Florida; and Tampa, Florida. The specific start dates for these additional destinations vary, with Las Vegas and Orlando flights beginning on November 12, and Fort Lauderdale service starting on November 19.
The carrier plans to utilize 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft based at the airport, which is located in McKinney, a city approximately 12 miles east of Frisco. This expansion is expected to generate more than 100 new local jobs for the area. Avelo has stated that introductory one-way fares will start at $99. Bookings made through July will include the first checked bag at no additional cost.
Andrew Levy, founder and chief executive officer of Avelo, described the launch as a significant moment for the Texas-based company. He highlighted the airline’s focus on low fares and on-time performance as key benefits for travelers. Levy noted that Collin County is one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States and expressed enthusiasm about growing the company’s presence in North Texas.
City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, stating that the new service reflects the growing demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He emphasized that the investment reinforces McKinney’s role in the region’s future and attracts residents, businesses, and investment. Cox thanked the airline for its confidence in the regional market.
Ken Carley, director of McKinney National Airport, noted that the launch follows a long-term effort that began in 2019. He mentioned that a new passenger terminal is scheduled to open in November 2026, coinciding with the start of flights. Carley expressed gratitude to the individuals and agencies involved in achieving this milestone, noting that the new service will help travelers save time and money.
