Dallas County Health and Human Services confirmed a new measles case in a county resident on Tuesday. The individual was infectious while visiting three locations in North Texas, prompting officials to identify specific exposure windows for the public.
The identified exposure periods include Turrentine Jackson Morrow Chapel in Allen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 14. Gloria’s Restaurant in Fairview is listed for the same day from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The third location is The Revel Patio Grill in Frisco, with exposure times from 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 15 until midnight.
Officials noted that the virus spreads through the air and can remain infectious in an area for up to two hours after an infected person departs. Individuals present at these sites during the specified times are advised to verify their immunity status and watch for symptoms.
Common signs include high fever, cough, runny nose, red watery eyes, and a rash that typically begins on the face and moves downward.
Dr. Philip Huang, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, stated, “Measles is one of the most contagious diseases we know, but it is also highly preventable.” He emphasized that unvaccinated individuals, infants, and those with weakened immune systems are at the highest risk. Anyone in these higher-risk groups who may have been exposed should contact a health care provider for guidance.
